The New Taipei District Prosecutors Office has indicted nine people linked to
the Dr. Shine cosmetic clinic chain ...

... over the systematic installation of hidden cameras at eight branches in
Taipei and New Taipei City.

Prosecutors say more than 300 people were filmed, including four minors, with
cameras disguised as smoke detectors and motion-sensor lights installed in
treatment and consultation rooms ...

... which allegedly recorded customers while they were changing clothes or
partially undressed.

Prosecutors add that the hidden cameras were installed over a period of
several years, from 2020 until March of this year.

After a separate hidden-camera case at another cosmetic clinic chain came to
light in May, Dr. Shine employees were allegedly ordered to remove the
cameras and destroy evidence.

Prosecutors are seeking prison terms of at least 16 years for operations
executive Chen Chih-min and at least 14 years for information manager Tang
Yung-chieh.

The clinic group's founder, Wang Chao-hui (王朝輝), has left Taiwan and has been
placed on a wanted list.
