The government says its has prepared Taiwan's national search and rescue team
to travel to Nepal following the deadly flash floods near the Nepal‑China
border earlier this week.

According to the National Fire Agency, it has ordered the national special
search and rescue team and rotating units from Tainan, Hsinchu City and
Chiayi County to prepare for departure.

Fire Agency Director‑General Hsiao Huang‑chang says although Taiwan has yet
to receive a request for help, the national special rescue and research team
will respond in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to any such
requests from affected countries.

Cabinet spokeswoman Michelle Lee says Premier Cho Jung-tai instructed Cabinet
officials to determine whether any Taiwanese nationals were affected and to
assess local rescue needs.

However, the foreign ministry says there have been no reports of any Taiwan
nationals being trapped or affected by the disaster.
