Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh Rally for Safe Return to Myanmar

Tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh held a rally Tuesday to
demand safe return to Myanmar.

They fled Myanmar nine years ago during a government crackdown.

The demonstrators urged the international community to ensure security in
Myanmar's Rakhine state.

More than 1 million Rohingya now live in camps around the Bangladeshi city of
Cox's Bazar.

Bangladesh has attempted to repatriate refugees twice, but refugees cited
security concerns.

The International Court of Justice held hearings in January on genocide
accusations against Myanmar.

Myanmar claims its actions were counter-terrorism operations.

The situation in Rakhine remains volatile.
