Taipei Mayor offers assistance to Zhinan temple

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan An says, the city government will do its utmost in
restoring Wenshan District's Zhinan temple...

following a fire last night that devastated the main building of the complex.

Chiang noted that that none were harmed in the fire, and said that the cause
of the fire was under investigation.

Firefighters say that the entire first floor of the building was destroyed in
addition to part of the second floor.

They add that the fire was exacerbated by the wood construction and paper
money and incense in the temple.

Plus, Zhinan gong's relatively difficult-to-reach location also made it
harder for firefighters to fight the fire, with efforts continuing past
midnight this morning.

Mayor Chiang says, the city has established a one-stop service window for
reconstruction efforts, and added that he hopes the temple can be restored as
quickly as possible.
