Kaohsiung Metro Apologizes after Six Trapped in Elevator

Kaohsiung Metro has apologized after six passengers were trapped in an
elevator at Kaohsiung Main Station for nearly 90 minutes last night.

The elevator malfunctioned while traveling between two basement levels,
triggering a safety mechanism that locked it in place.

Station staff opened the doors for ventilation and provided the passengers
with water while waiting for help.

At around 10 PM, a contractor entered through a maintenance opening and used
a ladder to help all six passengers climb out safely.

No one was injured.

Kaohsiung Metro says the elevator will remain closed until the cause of the
malfunction is determined.
