Taiwan Egg Industry Says No Shortage Despite Tighter Supplies

An industry group says Taiwan is not facing an egg shortage despite tighter
supplies ...

... as some retailers adjust sales in response to reduced production.

Costco Taiwan is testing smaller 20-egg packs instead of the usual 30 at its
Zhonghe and Xizhi stores, saying the move will allow more members to buy
eggs.

The Taiwan Egg Processing Association says supplies have been affected by
high temperatures, an earlier bird flu outbreak and the seasonal culling of
older laying hens.

The group says the situation is currently more pronounced in northern Taiwan,
but supplies could gradually return to normal from September.

Other major retailers, including PX Mart and Prosperity Plaza, formally known
as Carrefour, say they are continuing to work with suppliers to maintain
stable stocks.
