Tropical Storm Saudel forms but Taiwan impact still unclear

Tropical Storm Saudel has formed in the western Pacific, but its potential
impact on Taiwan remains unclear.

The Central Weather Administration says the storm developed from a tropical
depression southeast of Guam this afternoon, becoming the 18th named storm of
the typhoon season.

Saudel was located about 1,500 kilometers southeast of Taiwan mid-afternoon,
and was moving north at around 32 kilometers per hour.

The storm is currently forecast to move toward waters south of Japan's Ryukyu
Islands.
