'A Foggy Tale' named Taiwan's Oscars submission

The Ministry of Culture has announced that "A Foggy Tale" will represent
Taiwan in the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy
Awards.

The movie was directed by Chen Yu-hsun.

It's set during the White Terror ere and follows a girl who travels to
northern Taiwan to retrieve the body of her executed brother.

The selection committee says it chose the film for its vivid characters,
compelling storytelling and portrayal of the lives of everyday people during
one of Taiwan's darkest chapters.

The movie was released last November here in Taiwan and had grossed more than
1.19-billion N-T as of July year and attracted more than 4.4-million
moviegoers.

The film won Best Narrative Feature, Best Original Screenplay, Best Makeup
and Costume Design and Best Art Direction at the 62nd Golden Horse Awards.

The 99th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place on March 14, 2027.
