Trump says North Korea's Kim responded to outreach

U.S. President Donald Trump says North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has responded to his efforts to restart direct diplomacy.
Trump gave no details, and neither the White House nor North Korea immediately commented.
The statement came a day after Trump ordered the Pentagon to substantially reduce joint military exercises with South Korea, calling the drills costly and saying North Korea had been "unthreatening and respectful" during his presidency.
Trump and Kim held summits in 2018 and 2019, but talks later collapsed over Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program.
Analysts say another meeting remains possible, although North Korea is now in a stronger position after deepening ties with Russia and maintaining close relations with China.
