Premier Cho declines to countersign child savings legislation

Premier Zhu Rong-tai has refused to countersign the Special Act on Taiwan Future Accounts, which was passed in July.
The cabinet claims the refusal is triggered by what it claims are "violations of constitutional principles."
Its also being fuelled by concerns that it could allow wealthier families to accumulate larger amounts and ultimately widen the wealth gap.
Cabinet spokeswoman Michelle Lee says the government will instead continue implementing the family support measures it approved in May.
This marks the sixth time since December of last year that the Premier has refused to countersign legislation...
The K-M-T says Cho's decision not to countersign legislation is further evidence of the contempt the Lai administration has for the Legislature and the legislative majority.
The Act requires government to deposit 60,000 N-T annually into a Growth Allowance Account for eligible children under the age 8.
Children aged 7 to 17 would receive 30,000 N-T annually in the Growth Allowance Account and another 30,000 N-T in a Future Account.
The accounts would also accept "corporate sponsorship funds."
