NIA expands anti-fraud outreach for migrant workers

The National Immigration Agency is stepping up multilingual anti-fraud education for migrant workers in Taipei.
The agency recently joined a migrant worker health screening event at Taipei Main Station, where staff and interpreters explained common scam tactics in several languages.
Officials say language barriers can make it difficult for migrant workers to identify suspicious calls or messages.
One Indonesian worker said she once received a call from someone pretending to be from a bank and nearly followed the caller's instructions before a friend stopped her.
The agency says face-to-face outreach in workers' native languages can help them verify suspicious information and better protect themselves from fraud.
