Teen referred to court over plastic knife on Taipei MRT

Police have referred a teenager to court after the teen was seen playing with
a plastic folding knife on the Taipei MRT.

The incident happened late Sunday on a Tamsui-Xinyi Line train heading toward
Xiangshan.

Police say another passenger saw the teenager handling what appeared to be a
knife and reported it.

MRT staff escorted the teen off the train at Mingde Station before police
arrived.

Officers later determined the folding knife was made of plastic.

Police say no one was injured or threatened.

The teenager was taken to a police station for questioning and later referred
to the Shilin District Court under the Social Order Maintenance Act.
