The Associated Press has found that the decision by the US to slash foreign
aid funds last year has increased pregnancy complications and deaths in
Nepal.

Health workers, government officials, aid workers, and families say that aid
cuts to programs that ensured pregnany women got proper nutrition and
prenatal case have led to more women and babies dying preventable deaths.

The Gates Foundation has predicted that 2025 will be the first year this
century that child deaths will increase...

due to global cuts to foreign aid.

US aid cuts and those that followed by other countries forced the majaority
of women's organizations around the world to reduce their services.

The U.S. government has repeatedly claimed that no one has died because of
its funding cuts.

But the AP has documented the deaths of women and children from Myanmar to
Nigeria.

A study published in The Lancet journal, meanwhile, said the U.S. cuts could
lead to more than 14 million deaths, including more than 4.5 million children
under age 5, by 2030.
