North Korea Launches Ballistic Missile Ahead of U.S.-South Korea Drills

South Korea says North Korea has launched a ballistic missile toward the sea,
its second missile test in less than a week.

South Korea's military says it detected the launch from the eastern coastal
area of Wonsan at around 6 AM local time.

The launch comes two days after South Korea and the U-S announced plans to
begin their annual joint military exercises next week.

North Korea has long condemned the drills as rehearsals for an invasion, and
analysts say the latest missile launch may be intended as a protest.

The exercises are aimed at strengthening South Korea and the U-S's readiness
to respond to potential threats from North Korea.
