Tainan Young Farmers Launch Charity Pomelo Campaign

A group of young farmers in Tainan's Madou District are once again selling
Mid-Autumn Festival pomelo gift boxes ... and donating 20 percent of proceeds
to charity.

The campaign is now in its 12th year, with participating orchards using
environmentally friendly farming methods, including grass cover instead of
herbicides, and providing agricultural traceability certification.

Organizers are encouraging companies to buy the gift boxes for employees and
clients, supporting local farmers while also helping disadvantaged people.

Madou is Taiwan's largest pomelo-growing area, with about 810 hectares of
orchards, while Tainan as a whole grows around 28 percent of the nation's
pomelos.
