Foreign household helper applications surpass 5,000

The Ministry of Labor has approved almost 5 thousand 300 applications for
foreign household helpers in the three months ...

... since eligibility rules were relaxed to allow families with children
under 12 to apply.

Of the approved applications, over half involved families with more than two
children, while over 13 percent involved families with special circumstances.

Under the new rules, families generally pay a monthly employment
stabilization fee of 5 thousand NT, reduced to 2 thousand NT for certain
high-need households, such as those with rare-disease children or three or
more children under 12.

Demand has been gradually slowing, with daily domestic recruitment
applications falling from about 185 in the second half of April to 74 in
early July.
