Taoyuan expands free lunch and milk programs

Taoyuan is expanding its free school lunch and student milk programs starting
in the new academic year.

Mayor Chang San-cheng (張善政) says more than 7-thousand-400 homeroom teachers
and school lunch coordinators at public and private elementary and junior
high schools will be added to the city's free lunch program.

The city will also continue providing homeroom teachers with a monthly 300
N.T. lunch supervision allowance.

Meanwhile, Taoyuan's "Fresh Milk for Every Student" program will be expanded
to about 67-thousand junior high students.

The program currently provides eligible children with one bottle of fresh
milk or soy milk each week.

More than 280-thousand children and students are expected to be covered after
the expansion.
