KMT legislative caucus whip Fu Kun Chi yesterday failed to show up for party negotiations on the 2026 central government budget.
The move reportedly incensed Speaker Han Kuo-yu, who said that those with power should not simply flaunt it.
He called on Fu to either assign someone else to act as whip in his stead or resign from the post.
Fu says today that the move wasn't meant to disrespect Han, rather it was an act of protest over the Executive Yuan's treatment of the legislative speaker.
In his statement today, Fu also called on the KMT to "unite," a sentiment echoed by KMT heavyweight Hou You Yi.
