A former Navy serviceman has been sentenced to two years and seven months in prison for leaking classified military information to a Chinese intelligence contact in exchange for money.
The Taichung District Court also stripped the former serviceman, surnamed Tsai, of his civil rights for 18 months.
The ruling can be appealed.
Prosecutors say Tsai was introduced to the contact by a former Navy colleague, who met the woman through a dating app.
She allegedly posed as a Hong Kong-based reporter but was actually affiliated with Chinese intelligence.
According to prosecutors, Tsai provided personal and military information before photographing classified documents related to a Hsiung Feng Two missile launcher and sending them to the contact.
The court found he received a total of 38-thousand NT for the information.
Prosecutors say Tsai's former colleague remains under investigation.
