A court has approved the incommunicado detention of a former employee accused of killing the chairman of a tungsten and cobalt supply company in Pingtung.
Prosecutors say the suspect, surnamed Lin, was arrested last night on suspicion of robbery and murder.
The victim, Huang, was found bound, gagged and beaten to death at his home in Fangliao Township on July 24th.
Investigators say Lin was arrested at his mother's home, where he reportedly confessed to the crime.
Authorities say Lin had previously worked for Huang's company before later being hired as a housekeeper, giving him access to and familiarity with the victim's home.
Prosecutors believe Lin broke into the house intending to steal valuables, but killed Huang after waking him during the burglary to avoid being identified.
