Honda says its first-quarter profit more than doubled from a year earlier as the Japanese automaker continues its recovery from its first-ever annual loss.
The company reported net profit of almost 457 billion yen, or about 3 billion U-S dollars, for the April-to-June quarter.
That's up from over 196 billion yen during the same period last year.
Quarterly sales rose 13.5 percent to over 6 trillion yen, or about 38 billion U-S dollars, driven by strong vehicle sales in the U-S and India.
Honda posted its first full-year loss in the fiscal year that ended in March, citing heavy investment in its electric vehicle plans.
