Taiwan is suspending visa applications from Moroccan nationals starting today, after Morocco stopped processing visa applications from Taiwanese travelers.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the move is based on the principle of reciprocity.
Morocco recently instructed its embassies and consulates worldwide to stop accepting Visa Confirmation Letter applications from Taiwanese nationals.
Taiwanese travelers currently cannot apply for Moroccan e-visas, making the letters their main option for short business or tourist trips.
Taiwan says Moroccan nationals will also be unable to apply for visas to Taiwan, except in specially approved cases.
The foreign ministry says it will continue monitoring the situation and adjust the policy if Morocco changes its visa rules.
