Taiwan and the Philippines are expanding educational cooperation, with the number of Filipino students studying in Taiwan increasing by nearly 80 percent over the past three years.
The Ministry of Education says more than 5,500 Filipino students were studying in Taiwan in 2025 - up from just over 3,000 in 2022.
Following a meeting between education officials this week, the two sides agreed to establish a database of Filipino students.
They also plan to set up a regional Mandarin training center in the Philippines and expand dual-degree programs.
Taiwan has also established talent circulation centers in the Philippines to provide Mandarin training and encourage students to pursue higher education in Taiwan.
The ministry says future cooperation will focus on areas including semiconductors, smart agriculture and fisheries.
