Taipei has used the national Employment Stabilization Fund for nearly eight straight years to expand its long-term care workforce ...
... as the capital copes with Taiwan's highest proportion of senior citizens.
According to Ministry of the Interior statistics, people aged 65 and older accounted for more than 24 percent of Taipei's population in 2025 - the highest share of any city or county in Taiwan.
To meet growing demand, the city has worked with the Ministry of Labor since 2018 to train caregivers based on its projected long-term care staffing needs.
Officials say at least 77 percent of trainees have found jobs within three months of completing the program each year...
...with the employment rate reaching 90 percent last year - up 8 percent from three years earlier.
