President Donald Trump assured a crowd of journalists at the White House Correspondents' Dinner that he'd scrapped the most biting parts of remarks he had prepared for the dinner that was interrupted in April.
Nevertheless, he delivered a rambling speech that praised some journalists, took potshots at others, made jokes about public figures' weight and intellect.
At one point, he said, "Just like my presidency, the second time is always better ... and the third time will be better yet."
He added: "I'm only kidding." Then, at the end, he donned a red cap that read "Trump 2028."
Trump's appearance came three months after a gunman upended the original dinner and forced its postponement.
