China Declines to Clarify Screening Rules for Taiwanese Police Visitors

China's Taiwan Affairs Office is declining to explain the criteria used to
question Taiwanese police officers and judicial personnel traveling to the
country.

The response came after two Taiwanese police officers were detained and
questioned for hours during a recent visit to China.

Instead of clarifying its screening standards, Beijing accused Taiwan of
speading misinformation...

and insisted that Taiwanese visitors have nothing to fear as long as they
obey Chinese law.

The Mainland Affairs Council says it will continue updating cases involving
Taiwanese nationals who go missing or face detention in China.
