Academia Sinica pres calls for local, centeral govt. cooperation re: food

President of Academia Sinica and former Vice President Chen Jian Ren is
calling for greater cooperation between central and local governments...

amidst the ongoing Central Union Oils contamination scandal.

Responding to KMT lawmaker Ke Zhi-en's 柯志恩 questions, Chen said that the
issue was considered a systemic one.

Ke said that, during Chen's time as premier, the government would immediately
remove from the shelves any food items that weren't up to snuff.

She questioned if the government response this time around was a bit too
slow.

Chen says, improvements are needed to the communication channels between
central and local governments.
