Taiwan Railway resumes services after barrier lake threat eases

Taiwan Railway says tains on the Eastern Trunk Line have resumed normal service after the threat from a barrier lake in Hualien eased.
Local trains between Fenglin and Guangfu stations resumed operations after 5 PM after the expected overflow from the Wanli River barrier lake was delayed.
Taiwan Railway says updated water level assessments showed the expected overflow had been delayed, allowing services to restart.
The railway operator says it expects to announce train services through noon Saturday by 9 PM tonight, depending on the latest water conditions.
