Legislative Speaker meets with visiting Panamanian lawmakers

Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu has held talks with a delegation of Panamanian
lawmakers - during which he called for Taiwan and Panama to deepen
cooperation in trade and technology.

Han also urged both side to establish closer parliamentary exchanges.

Han thanked the cross-party delegation for visiting Taiwan and stressed his
belief that people-to-people exchanges between the two countries remain
strong despite changes in official relations.

Han also said he hopes to see cooperation with Panama expand in the areas of
trade, technology, and industry.

The Panamanian delegation led by the chair of the National Assembly Committee
on Agricultural and Fisheries Affairs.

Panama officially severed diplomatic relations with Taiwan in favor of
Beijing in 2017.

However, Panamanian lawmakers have made regular parliamentary trips to Taiwan
in recent years.
