Although the storm remains well offshore, it's already disrupting
transportation and prompting preparations across Taiwan.

Passenger ferry services in eastern Taiwan have been suspended, with more
cancellations on routes to Matsu, Penghu and Xiaoliuqiu through Saturday.

Authorities are urging travelers to return from offshore islands early to
avoid being stranded.

In Taitung, tourists have been ferried back from Green Island and Orchid
Island, while supplies have been shipped in ahead of the storm.

Fishers are also securing boats, and farmers are rushing to harvest crops
before conditions deteriorate.

Authorities have also ordered the preemptive closure of Guishan Island from
Thursday through Sunday, while highway officials are monitoring mountain
roads and say traffic restrictions could be imposed on the Danjiang Bridge if
winds become too strong.

Meanwhile, China Airlines is waiving ticket change fees for eligible flights
through Saturday.
