Two Rescued After Apartment Fire in New Taipei

Two people have been rescued after becoming trapped on a third-floor ledge
during a fire at an apartment building in New Taipei's Sanchong District.

Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 5 PM at the 12-story
building on Huanhe North Road, where thick smoke left a man and a woman
stranded outside.

Both were rescued by ladder and taken to hospital as a precaution.

Officials say they remained conscious throughout the incident.

Two other residents were safely evacuated before the fire was brought under
control about 20 minutes later.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
