Argentina advance after getting past Cape Verde's formidable goalkeeper

Defending champion Argentina needed 120 minutes to get past Cape Verde to
reach the round of 16.

Messi netted his 20th career World Cup goal to open the scoring, but it was
goalkeeper Vozinha who was the story of the game, as he and Cape Verde's back
line showed remarkable fortitude in the face of Argentina's striker.

The final score was 3-2 in extra time.

Vozinha's performance included four elite saves against Messi.

Cape Verde began the tournament with a scoreless draw against Spain.

Despite their loss, the Blue Sharks gained recognition and $11 million from
FIFA.

Argentina will play Egypt next week, after the Pharoahs got past Australia on
penalty kicks.***
