China Says Pilot Crashed Plane for 'Personal Reasons'
Posted on 2026-07-02 19:08:14
Chinese authorities say the pilot who crashed a small plane into Beijing's
tallest building last week appeared to have acted for personal reasons.

Investigators say the 66-year-old pilot wrote about wanting to end his life
in his diary before Friday's crash.

The pilot was killed, while 13 other people were injured, none of them
seriously.

Authorities say the aircraft deviated from its planned flight path before
crashing into the skyscraper in a busy business district.

Officials say the pilot had been living alone, had no fixed job, was
divorced, and suffering from insomnia and anxiety.
