Taiwan has completed its first official export to the United Kingdom this year of Irwin mangoes and black-leaf lychees.
The shipment, from growers in Tainan and Taichung, arrived in Britain on Wednesday after passing through Germany under continuous cold-chain transportation to preserve freshness.
Importer Cherrain Global says the fruit underwent strict quality controls from harvest through packaging to ensure it reached consumers in the best possible condition.
The company says it hopes to build a long-term market for Taiwanese fruit in Britain by supplying Asian supermarkets, online retailers and local wholesalers.
It also hopes to establish dedicated Taiwan produce sections in physical retail stores to raise consumer awareness and encourage purchases.
