Four tourists caught walking on the tracks of the Alishan Forest Railway face fines of up to 50 thousand NT each.
The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office says the group was discovered during a joint patrol with police near Erwanping Station earlier this month.
Officials say walking on the tracks remains a common but prohibited activity, despite the resumption of regular train services last year.
Authorities say they have stepped up enforcement and warn that anyone caught trespassing on railway tracks, bridges or tunnels could face fines ranging from 10 thousand to 50 thousand NT under the law.
