US-Taiwan ties

In news from and about Taiwan this morning,

The U-S State Department is crediting parliamentary exchanges as being key
elements aimed at strengthening US-Taiwan ties

According to a state department spokesperson, the robust unofficial
relationship between the U-S and Taiwan is strengthened through regular
interactions between officials and lawmakers from political parties from both
sides.

The statement comes after Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu and members of
a cross-party delegation returned from Washington, D.C. on Saturday.

Han and the delegation met with several senators, more than 30 bipartisan
members of the House of Representatives, and with officials from the White
House and the U-S Department of War during the trip.

The talks focused on US-Taiwan security cooperation, the development of the
drone industry, assisting Taiwan in expanding its international
participation, and improving the ease of investment for Taiwanese businesses
in the U-S.

A State Department official says the "the strong unofficial relationship
between the U-S and Taiwan is boosted through regular interactions."
