Taiwan's economy continued steaming along in May ... with the National Development Council's composite index of economic indicators flashing red for a sixth consecutive month.
The NDC said the hot reading comes on the back of strong global demand for AI applications.
The index slipped to 39 points from 40 in April.
The decline came after the subindex for overtime working hours in the industrial and service sectors and manufacturing sector revenue fell one point each, while the money supply subindex rose by one point.
The NDC said the leading indicators index rose around half a percent to 103.81 amid growing optimism toward the business outlook.
Nevertheless, the NDC says the local economy still faces uncertainties, including progress in negotiations between the United States and Iran, the monetary policies of major economies and US tariff policy.
