Taiwan strengthens milk naming rules
Posted on 2026-06-26 20:08:49
Only certified domestically produced milk will be allowed to use the term
"fresh milk" in its Chinese product name beginning July 1.

The Ministry of Agriculture says imported liquid milk labeled as "fresh milk"
in Chinese could face fines of up to 4 million NT under the new rules.

Officials say the changes are intended to help consumers more easily
distinguish between locally produced and imported milk.

Certified products will also begin carrying a Taiwan Fresh Milk logo printed
directly on their packaging instead of the stickers previously used.

The ministry says the new system will apply to about 330 companies and 13,000
retail outlets.
