MND reports Taiwan Strait transit by China newest aircraft carrier

The Ministry of National Defense says China's newest aircraft carrier, the
Fujian transited the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday.

The ministry has released a black-and-white photo of the vessel.

No aircraft are visible on its deck.

The defense ministry has not said where or how the picture was taken - saying
only it that used joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance
methods to monitor the vessel as it sailed through the strait.

The Fujian is believed to be China's most advanced aircraft carrier and,
unlike China’s first two carriers, it has electromagnetic catapults to launch
aircraft from its flat flight deck.

The Fujian last sailed through the Taiwan Strait in December of last year.
