Taiwan's National Park Administration is advising hikers to stay out of the mountains, citing slippery conditions and the potential for sudden landslides and rockfalls in mountainous areas.
This follows a week of wet conditions and forecasts for continued torrential rain in central and southern Taiwan until at least Tuesday.
The park administration says, "The mountains will always be there" in advising against overeagerness among the hiking crowd.
The Central Weather Administration says the weather will start to turn around on Wednesday.
