The DPP is slamming the Taipei mayor over comments he made, in which he stated that he supported abolishing the Control Yuan.
Chiang stated today that he would suggest that KMT and TPP lawmakers reject all 2 dozen names put forward by the presidential office to fill spaces in the Control Yuan...
saying that this would paralyze the government watchdog.
DPP Legislative Caucus Whip Cai Qi Chang says that Chiang's suggestion clearly demonstrates that he doesn't want to change the Control Yuan through the law...
and demonstrates that the mayor simply wants to oppose something for the sake of opposing it.
Cai added that, as the KMT currently holds more seats than any other party in the legislature, it if wishes to abolish the Control Yuan, it may do so through proposing amendments to the Constitution.
But he said that the party is talking a big talk, while failing to put into place legal measures aimed at making those adjustments.
Meanwhile the DPP's pick to replace Chiang, Puma Shen hit out at the mayor for saying he wants to focus on city issues while making statements on things that would concern someone running for president.
