Japan Restarts Reactor at World's Largest Nuclear Plant

A reactor at Japan's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant has resumed operations as the country seeks to increase electricity generation.
The restart marks another step in Japan's effort to expand nuclear power amid rising energy demand and higher fuel costs.
The facility is operated by the same company that ran the Fukushima Daiichi plant, where three reactors melted down following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster.
The restart has renewed debate over nuclear safety and a longstanding challenge facing Japan's nuclear industry.
Experts say the country is running out of space to store spent nuclear fuel and has yet to establish a permanent solution for disposing of radioactive waste.
