MOE to propose measures on educators' safety

The Ministry of Education says, it will launch inter-agency discussions in an
attempt to better protect teachers.

That's following several recent incidents in which teachers were attacked by
students.

The Elementary and Junior High School Principal Association is calling for
legislation to strengthen protections for educators.

The Deputy Minister of Education says that the ministry will work with the
Ministry of Civil Service to evaluate support measures for teachers.

MOE officials note that employers are currently required to assist when staff
face violence in the workplace.

They emphasize that the ministry has repeatedly urged local governments and
schools to support affected teachers with medical and psychological care.
