Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim has returned to Taiwan after a five-day visit to Palau, calling the diplomatic mission assigned by President Lai Ching-te a success.
Hsiao's trip, her first to a diplomatic ally since taking office last year, highlighted the results of Taiwan-Palau cooperation.
The vice president says, those highlights include surveying Taiwan-funded infrastructure projects, Palau's national hospital, and several bilateral cooperation projects.
During the visit, Taiwan also announced it would station Investigation Bureau personnel in Palau to help combat cross-border crime and donate drones to the Palauan government.
Hsiao further noted that Palau is Taiwan's closest diplomatic ally geographically.
She encouraged Taiwanese tourists to visit, citing a shared Austronesian heritage connecting the two peoples across the Pacific.
