Hong Kong charges 7 over fire

Now turning to international news...

Hong Kong authorities have charged seven people and two companies in
connection with the city's deadliest fire in decades.

The blaze in November ravaged seven apartment buildings, killing 168 people.

Suspects were charged with manslaughter, conspiracy to defraud, money
laundering, tax evasion, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The 7 individuals were involved in a renovation project at the complex.

Police previously detained 38 related to the case.

A lawyer for an independent inquiry into the fire has said that almost all
fire safety systems failed on the day of the blaze, due to human error.
