The Executive Yuan says, the Tsai and Lai administrations have been clear
that their cross-strait policy rests on maintaining the status quo...

noting that these policies are in line with the overall consensus of the
Taiwanese people.

That's following comments made by KMT chair Zheng Li Wen, in which she said
that it would be difficult to get a referendum passed on what she called
"peaceful unification..."

but she emphasized that many Taiwanese people support cross-strait exchange.

Zheng made the comments on her ongoing trip to the US.

Executive Yuan Secretary-General Zhang Dun Han remarked on a quote by former
US President John F. Kennedy, that "In the course of world history, only a
few generations have been fortunate enough to shoulder the mission of
defending freedom in critical moments of crisis.。。"

adding that he believed every Taiwanese person should take on that
responsibility.
