The Army conducted its first live-fire verification of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system on the island's west coast today.
Military officials say launchers were deployed on both banks of the Dajia River, simulating cross-area fire support against high-value targets in a northern Taiwan combat scenario.
Of a planned 36 rockets, 32 were successfully fired.
Four rockets failed to ignite, and the Army says the cause is under investigation.
The 58th Artillery Command says the exercise demonstrated HIMARS capabilities in rapid deployment, precision strikes, and cross-area reinforcement, contributing to the deterrence of potential ground force incursions.
