2 dead in Hsinchu from gas explosion

Hsinchu City officials say that 2 people were killed in an apparent gas
explosion this morning.

The two dead were OHCA at the scene and were pronounced dead at the hospital
after efforts to resucitate them failed.

2 others were also injured in the blast...

while authorities say that, in total, 8 households and 18 people were
affected.

The incident took place this morning, with a resident calling the fire
department to report a suspected gas leak just before 4 am.

Less than 20 minutes later, an explosion occurred.

Mayor Gao Hong An says, her office is coordinating the efforts of local
officials at differnet levels to confirm the needs of affected residents and
assist with resettlement.

Search and rescue efforts are still underway.
