The Central Weather Administration warns that heavy rain will affect parts of Taiwan through to the middle of the week as the island moves into the active phase of the annual plum rain season.
Forecasters say the heaviest rainfall is expected tomorrow and Wednesday ... as a weather front combines with southwesterly winds to bring unstable conditions across much of the island.
Western and northeastern Taiwan, along with mountainous areas in the east and southeast, could see thunderstorms and localized heavy downpours.
Other regions are also expected to experience periods of rain and thunderstorms during the week.
The weather administration says conditions should improve somewhat on Thursday as the front moves south, although central and southern Taiwan could still see scattered showers.
Another increase in rainfall is possible from Friday into Saturday as the front shifts north again, bringing wetter weather to western Taiwan and mountain areas in the east.
