Death penalty for Kaohsiung man who murdered, dismembered 3 women

The Kaohsiung District Court has sentenced a 74-year-old man to death for the
murders of three women in separate incidents between 2024 and 2025.

The court says Chang Chieh-tsung was convicted of murder, desecration and
abandonment of corpses, as well as theft involving one of the victims.

Judges found that Chang killed three women, aged between 71 and 75, and later
disposed of their remains.

The court also ordered the lifelong deprivation of his civil rights.

The ruling can be appealed.

Court officials say Chang showed no visible reaction as the verdict was read.

Following the hearing, relatives of two of the victims rushed toward the
defendant and assaulted him before court officers intervened.

Chang was later remanded into custody.
